In 2012, PEUGEOT unveiled its ONYX trio, Superbike Supertrike & a Supercar whose innovative bodywork is made of carbon fibre and copper, its pure cabin made of felt and NewspaperWood, the vehicle is powered by a 600 hp hybrid drive train. This supercar, which associates the latest technologies with natural raw materials, found in 2014 its static partner in the ONYX sofa, a 3-metre long seat made of carbon fibre and Volvic volcanic lava stone.
Presented for the first time at the 2014 Milan Design Week, the ONYX sofa is the first piece in a made to measure furniture collection.
The ONYX chandelier is the second piece in Peugeot Design Lab’s collection of custom made furniture. The ONYX furniture range seeks to explore the concept of: unique pieces of furniture, made to measure, to suit the choice, origin and personality of the customer, but which always respects a common idea: the union, via a pronounced clear cut, between hyper-technological materials and raw and natural materials.
Descending elegantly from the ceiling the tips of the 3m chandelier almost touch the ground. A rare and unique piece of Indonesian Banyan wood is seamless blended with the latest 3D printing technology to produce the ONYX chandelier. The opposing natures of these two materials are brought into sharp contrast by PEUGEOTs signature “sharp cut”.
