1890 - Birth of the automobile
The Peugeot Company tried a few experiments of attaching motors to a tricycle (type 1) but they weren’t met with much success. Peugeot then developed an automobile with a quadicycle chassis, powered by a V twin cylinder engine made by Panhard.
Three units of type 2 were produced from March to July 1890. With Panhard and Daimler whose first models were launched in the same year, Peugeot has gone down in history as one of the world’s first 3 automotive manufacturers.
The early plans of the type 3 (photo) had already began. In 1896 the first Peugeot Automobile company was created.
